Division of Health Science
We educate graduate students to be medical specialists who have flexibility to adapt to daily-improving medical technology with more advanced knowledge and technology in the Division of Health Science Medical Scientific Specialty of the Graduate School of Health Science. In addition, making use of the advantageous circumstance that SUMS includes many medical and welfare departments, we educate to develop students in an interdisciplinary way to collaborate with staff of other fields.
Through the education of our division, we aim to foster highly specialized medical professionals with broad abilities to contribute to medical service in the community who can be immediately effective and maintain leadership in a variety or medical facilities or medical companies.
The Division of Health Science of Graduate School has 12 specialized areas, that is, Radiological Informatics, Clinical Nutrition, Medical Technology, Physical Therapy, Medical Welfare, Clinical Psychology, Acupuncture and Moxibustion Science, Clinical Engineering, Health Informatics and Nursing (the above, Chiyozaki Campus), and Medical Imaging and Therapeutic Radiology (the above, Tokyo Satellite Course).
Each student studies a main course in one of these specialized areas and study from 70 subjects of each specialized area and common areas throughout both their Masters or Doctoral programs. They research their Master’s thesis or Doctoral dissertation concerning their specialization, complete their paper and receive a Masters or Doctorate when they pass the examination.
Many students with full time jobs are involved in this division and we offer convenience to these students by preparing various systems such as intensive course of lectures on weekends and configure assignments for home or the workplace. This is true especially for Medical Imaging and Therapeutic Radiology at the Tokyo Satellite where the school is fully open on Saturday and Sunday once or twice a month for students’ convenience.
